A 3 metre 22kW Type 2 cable is ideal for home wallboxes, workplace chargers and dedicated parking spaces where there is only a short distance between the charge point and the vehicle's charging port.

The advantage is having less heavy three-phase cable to handle, coil and store, with less excess cable lying around the vehicle while charging.

Before choosing 3m, measure the actual cable route rather than the straight-line distance. It should reach your charging port comfortably without being stretched tight or placing strain on either connector.

Yes. This can be a significant advantage with a 22kW cable.

Three-phase EV cables contain the additional conductors required to carry three-phase power, so they are naturally bulkier than equivalent single-phase charging cables.

If your charger is positioned immediately beside the vehicle, choosing 3m means there is less cable to uncoil, move around the vehicle and pack away after charging.

You still get the full electrical capability of the longer versions - up to 32A three-phase / 22kW - but in a more compact cable for close-range charging. This particular cable also uses flexible TPU sheathing to improve everyday handling.

Yes.

The 22kW rating is the maximum capability of the cable, not the charging speed it forces into the vehicle.

If your EV has an 11kW onboard AC charger, it can charge at up to 11kW when connected to a suitable three-phase charge point. If your vehicle is limited to around 7kW AC, it will charge at its own maximum supported rate instead.

This cable supports 22kW three-phase, 11kW three-phase and compatible single-phase charging up to around 7.4kW

Choose 3m if your charge point is consistently close to the vehicle and you want the most compact and manageable three-phase cable.

Choose 5m if you need more flexibility for different parking positions, different vehicles or public charging locations where the position of the charge-point socket can vary.

Remember that EV charging ports can be located at the front, side or rear of the vehicle, so a setup that works perfectly with 3m for your current car may require more reach with another vehicle.

If 3m only just reaches, choose 5m. If 3m reaches comfortably, the shorter cable means less three-phase cable to manage every time you charge.
