All vehicles that use a Type 2 (IEC 62196) inlet are considered compatible by default, unless they fall under the exceptions listed below. This adapter follows the standard Type 1-to-Type 2 configuration:

• Input (Charge Side): Type 1 (J1772) – supports 16A and 32A single-phase only

• Output (Vehicle Side): Type 2 (IEC 62196) – compatible with the vast majority of Type 2 EVs and PHEVs

• Maximum Rating: 32A single-phase AC (a 3-phase option is not possible under the J1772 standard)

The following vehicles are not compatible with this adapter:

• All BMW EV and PHEV models

• Early non-European Tesla models

Charging in Wet Weather

This adapter is designed for everyday outdoor EV charging and can be used in light rain as part of normal operation.

During heavy or prolonged rain, we recommend taking simple precautions to help reduce direct water exposure at the connection point. This can be achieved by:

• Charging under cover where possible (for example, a carport or garage), or

• Using a charging plug cover during poor weather conditions

Charging plug covers are widely available in two common formats:

• Magnetic covers that attach to the vehicle body around the charge port

• Sock-style covers that fully envelope the connected charging plugs

These accessories are not currently sold in our store, but a quick online search for “EV charging plug cover” will return suitable options.

As with all EV charging equipment, if the connector becomes wet during use, allow it to fully dry before the next charging session.
