This cable has a total linear cable length of 5 metres, but because it is coiled, its comfortable everyday working reach is approximately 2 metres.

The coils are designed to expand during use and then retract, keeping excess cable compact and largely off the ground. It should therefore not be treated as having the same 5m reach as a straight 5m EV charging cable.

Avoid routinely pulling the cable beyond its intended working range, as overstretching can eventually affect its ability to recoil properly.

If you need substantially more than 2m between the charge point and your vehicle, choose the 10m coiled version or an appropriately sized straight Type 2 cable.

It can be if your wallbox is positioned close to the vehicle and you want a tidier charging setup.

A coiled cable naturally retracts when additional length isn't required, helping to keep excess cable off the driveway or garage floor and reducing loose cable around the vehicle.

A straight cable is the better choice if you regularly need to use most of the cable's stated length. This 5m coiled cable comfortably stretches to around 2m, whereas a straight 5m cable provides considerably greater working reach.

So the choice is primarily compactness and neat handling versus maximum reach.

This cable supports 32A three-phase charging up to 22kW, but is also compatible with 16A three-phase charging at up to 11kW and compatible single-phase charging up to around 7.4kW.

If your EV has an 11kW onboard AC charger, it will simply charge at up to 11kW from a suitable three-phase charge point. If your vehicle is limited to around 7kW AC, it will charge at its supported single-phase rate.

The 22kW rating is the cable's maximum capability - it doesn't force your vehicle to accept more power than it supports.

No. The coiled design itself does not reduce the charging speed.

This cable is specifically engineered to carry 32A three-phase power up to 22kW, just like an equivalently rated straight 22kW Type 2 cable.

Your actual charging speed is determined by the lowest capability of the vehicle's onboard AC charger, the charge point and the cable - not whether the cable is straight or coiled.

So choosing coiled is about handling, compactness and keeping excess cable under control, rather than accepting any reduction in charging performance.
